I think I have said this before, one of my favorite parts in planning Mezcal: Mexico in a Bottle is curating the food and cocktail pairings. It’s not easy given the plethora of great restaurants in the Bay Area, the explosion of trend setting Mexican restaurants is a category unto itself. And then there are all the cracking bar programs. The choice is fun, if fraught!
This year we are proud to feature some new partners along with favorites from years past. New to Mezcal: Mexico in a Bottle are Cala, Ichi Sushi, Calavera, and Coolinaria, a high concept Mexican food truck that will launch at Mezcal: Mexico in a Bottle. The veterans include Tamarindo, ABV, and Uno Dos Tacos. We’ll be posting about exactly what gustatory delights they’ll be preparing soon but let’s get our priorities straight, first you need to get a ticket. One of the really exciting things about this year’s tasting is that some of our restaurants are going to collaborate with bar programs. Ichi Sushi is going to match bites with the bar team at Lolo. Coolinaria is working with Beretta’s always innovative cocktail team. Uno Dos Tacos has paired off with the good folks at El Techo/Lolinda to deliver their own brand of extraordinariness. We love surprises so there will also be something fun from the newly launched Mosto Movil bar.
The cocktails will be feature mezcals from Amaras, Quiquiriqui, Montelobos, Marca Negra, Vida and more. Stay tuned as we unveil what will be served over the coming weeks.
